List, goals, resolutions. Top must have’s for my kids 2011

As I mentioned before, I decided to make goals – not resolutions as resolutions tend to get broken easily.  I decided to share this current trend with my two girls and they liked the idea but of course what was their first goal? To get a puppy ASAP!

Both my hubby and I take complete responsibility for planting this seed in their heads as we started on this path of visiting animal rescues in our area and we almost walked away with one adorable german shepherd puppy. But we did not end up getting it, which leads everyone in the family to moan whenever the puppy discussion comes up – remember MAYA?

I did start out researching as I think it could be a nice addition to our family and when we originally asked what others thought on facebook about our MAYA dilemma many people’s response was not to do it! I know it takes a lot of work and we are nervous about having a dog as each of us has never had a dog before.  I just think the right one has not come along yet. We also have to figure out what breed we wanted. I really want a non-shedding dog, the kids want a small, white fluffy dog and of course the hubby wants a GSD. In any case I have done tons of research and dogs are quite expensive (especially when it’s the fluffy, white purebred type!) So we will add this to the list of goals (and savings account). Some great resources include:  https://www.petfinder.com or https://www.nextdaypets.com.    I am already envisioning the cute little puppy items we will need!

No car = less spending

It’s already January 5 and so far I am in the midst of reading my second book (goal was to do more reading and writing!) But have not hit the gym as hard  (ok at all) as my car is in the shop due to an accident with a deer. No, I did not hit a deer but the deer ran into me!

The hubby and I thought it would be a good experiment to see how we did without a car for a week. He is doing fine as he has his car but I am glued to my home office!  Yes I am getting more work done but every once in a while as I step away from my work and think I’ll just run to Starbucks or CVS (for that product I just need right now…I stop….Oh yeah I have no way of getting there.

Yes, yes, I could walk but I do live in the suburbs so it’s not just a quick jaunt. (Yes, that could help with my new year’s requirement of hitting the gym) It’s nice that I live in a small community so when I posted on Facebook that I was without a car people offered rides, switching of carpools and even offers of Starbucks being brought to me! I really do love my community. But it did get me thinking of how long I could last without transportation. I am a working mother of two very active kids!  My guess is one week and that’s my limit. Luckily my car will be ready at the end of the week! This week was a good test to say I can survive without a car – plus I think I saved some $ as I was not running to Starbucks and CVS and…….

New Year’s Goals

I worked out today. Yes….I actually worked out for the first time in a while and it’s not even New Year’s Day! My gym membership was on hold due to my getting shingles right as school started! So I looked though my old exercise DVD’s and just did it (I actually found a few on VHS – what’s that???). Of course part of my inspiration were my new Nike Free Trainer 7.0 that the hubby bought me for Christmas! Love them.

Just getting a head start on some New Years’ resolutions or as one friend pointed out today on Facebook only goals – not resolutions – I like that! Resolutions tend to get broken easily but who wants to break or mess up on a goal?  So what are your goals this year?  Me? To network more, blog more, read more, relax more and oh yea work out more! Those are just a few…..

Lice Repel Shampoo?

Yes, there are many of these lice repel shampoos on the market but we discovered a more natural one that works well and smells great!

How many of you have received the lice letter?  – The one that comes home in your child’s backpack saying someone in their class has lice?  Each year I worry about lice and have heard the tips and suggestions on what to do to prevent it – keeping hair dirty, using tea tree oil shampoo, etc. etc.  I am trying to use more natural and organic hair care and body washes for my children so I was so excited to hear about Babo Botanicals.

Babo Botanicals mission is to provide the highest quality, purest hair, scalp and skincare products for babies and kids. Babo botanicals products are free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and other yucky ingredients.

Our friends at Babo Botanicals sent us some Rosemary Tea Tree Shampoo and Rosemary Tea Tree Lice Repel Conditioning Spray to test out. My kids and I loved them!  They smell very nice and what I like about the whole line is that moms can use the products too as they are safe for color treated hair.

The lice repel shampoo and conditioner contain repellant oils of Rosemary, Tea Tree and Mint. So they smell great and Clinically Proven 95% Effective to Repel Lice when used in combination!   What a great company and gentle products.  They’ve done their research and created fine products that us trendymommies highly recommend!  https://babobotanicals.com
