Be safe, choose clean beauty @Kosmatology #nontoxic #sponsored

As you all know I am obsessed with checking all my beauty products via EWG and I also just discovered the Think Dirty app as well. The Think Dirty® app is the easiest way to learn about the potentially toxic ingredients in your cosmetics and personal care products. You plug in the name or you can even scan it in and Think Dirty will provide information on the product and the ingredients so you know what you are getting. It’s all about choosing cleaner options for you and your family. Local gals you may just see me at CVS checking out the products on the app with my nose in my phone. Check out the organic skin care isle the next time you are at CVS.

Lip balm is something my kids use every day and foaming hand soap seems to be a big offender as well in terms of chemical ingredients. That is why I was so happy that Kosmatology sent me a few items to test out.

Kosmatology is a line of organic and natural skin care products. All of the company’s products are vegan and free of harmful chemicals and preservatives. The organic, preservative-free skin care line is safe for the whole family. The line has everything from body wash to bug repellent (in a convenient travel size stick) In fact a few of their items come in travel size so you can test them out before committing but I am sure if you like fresh scents and clean beauty products you will love the line. Here are my thoughts on some of the products:

The body wash – Containing eight ingredients or less, the washes come in Free & Clear (Unscented) for those with super sensitive skin, the Goody-Goody Grapefruit for itchy eczema-like skin and Herbal Fresh (Spearmint-Rosemary). I tested out the spearmint rosemary and loved it. It is the perfect wash to use in the morning for a great pick me up! Made with organic Shea butter, organic olive oil and organic castor oil for the base and organic essential oils to scent, the wash is very nice! I will have to try the grapefruit one next.

The foaming hand soap – of course I stay away from the anti-bacterial hand soap and I would buy whatever was sls free and paraben free but noticed that many hand soaps have a ton of ingredients and many did not rank well on EWG or Think Dirty. The Kosmatology hand soaps are made with organic oils such as coconut, olive and safflower with organic essential oils. The lavender eucalyptus smells so good. A must have in the bathroom and it rates a 0 on Think Dirty.

The Hand Sanitizer – The goody-goody grapefruit hand sanitizer smells so good and is free of the harmful chemical triclosan. It contains ethyl alcohol to kill germs and organic glycerin to rehydrate skin. I love that is comes in a spray as it is easier for the little kids to use (how many times have your kids squeezed the hand sanitizer bottle only to get a large glob out and throw it everywhere????)

The lip balm – ladies we apply lip balm how many times a day?? You don’t want yucky chemicals in them do you? Preservative-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, beeswax-free, free of artificial dyes and colors, and vegan this lip balm is thicker than most I’ve tested and the grapefruit is not overpowering at all and at $3.99 you can buy a bunch! Plus it ranks a 0 on Think Dirty!

WOD aid – This is a hand therapy treatment and it comes in a lip balm sized stick so the hubby can have it with him at all times. It prevents the formation of calluses and cuticle cracks and the scent is not too much. I like this as I put in on my cuticles before bed and it works!

@SheaMoisture beauty products A review: #amillionwaystoshea

I like safe and effective beauty products and test out a lot of products. I love the Shea Moisture line and the company history is interesting, the products smell great and they work. Plus they are a natural, organic and a sustainably-produced line. Not all products can say that!  AND 10 % Of the Shea Moisture community commerce sales go to women-led business to support local communities where the ingredients come from.

Their web site says they strive to be sulfate free, paraben free and are tested on people not animals. The products in the Shea Moisture line use some pretty unique ingredients gathered from around the world and the background of this beauty line is interesting. Sofi Tucker started selling Shea Nuts at the village market in Bonthe, Sierra Leone in 1912. By age 19, the widowed mother of four was selling Shea Butter, African Black Soap and her homemade hair and skin preparations all over the countryside. This legacy continues today. Here are a few of the items I tested out.

The SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Collection smells so good! The shampoo and conditioner is enriched with Fruit Infused Coconut Water, Imbe Oil and Certified organic Shea Butter (that is ethically sourced from seven women’s co-ops in Northern Ghana) A nice weightless formulation that gives a bit of boost to my hair!

The 10-in-1 Renewal System is great for older hair (lol…ok moms in their 30’s and 40’s!) The antioxidant-rich collection helps to perfect and renew vibrancy to dull, lackluster hair. I use this as a special treat for my hair. It is sulfate-free has anti-aging benefits (no more frizz), color protection and your hair is super soft!

I love the bars of soap and body lotion too. The superfruit organic complex bar soap has Shea and Mango Butter and the superfruit complex of Raspberry Ketone, Goji, Acai and Guava extracts to nourish skin. I do notice when I use this that my skin is much smoother and it also lathers very well. Check out all their products as they have something for everyone. In fact they have a new web app #amillionwaystoshea in which you can upload a photo and answer some questions on which product is best for you!

Summer Hair & Skin from @NaturesGate

My tween and teen love testing out shampoo, conditioner and body washes and they certainly voice their opinions on them all. That is why the products have to smell nice and work well. We got a chance to test out @NaturesGate Pomegranate & Sunflower hair defense shampoo and conditioner as well as the pomegranate body wash. They loved the smell and liked how they all coordinated. Seriously, how many times do you find something for both the hair and body that smells good and is the same scent? No one wants to smell like a hundred different fragrances. This is the perfect combo for summertime hair and skin care (and great for moms for color treated hair). With a blend of pomegranate and sunflower petals it smells fresh and clean.

Nature’s Gate also makes this great product – The Nature’s Gate Glow Lotion in Medium – not as dark as a self- tanner (but if you have very light skin it will be a bit tan, but still a nice color). You can also use the lotion daily to build a deeper tan.  My teen wanted to try one of my self-tanner lotions so I had her test this glow lotion out as I felt better about the ingredients in this lotion -or should I say the ingredients not included:   it’s Vegan, NON GMO, Paraben Free, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Mineral Oil Free, Petrolatum Free, PEG Free, Butylene Glycol Free, Cruelty Free! How many self-tanners can say that? Plus it has vitamin E in it so it is very moisturizing.

I have to say I did not instruct her how to work a self-tan cream and she slathered it on and I thought, oh boy this is going to come out bad however it was even, there were no streaks and the next day it was a nice light tan shade.  She and I were pleased at the result!

New moms: check out @100percentpure

I received some great products to test out and they are perfect for the new mom or any woman who is investigating more nature beauty products. 100% pure is one of the healthiest, purest skincare lines I have seen! The line offers make-up, facial skin care and body washes. These products below are perfect for the new mom as well as the whole family really. Both my kids and I use the extra gentle baby lotion and the diaper cream is great for any summer rash. The coffee bean caffeine eye cream works wonders on dark circles and puffiness (so perfect for those new moms who are not getting a lot of sleep!) The sun stick and the moisture stick are small enough for the diaper bag. I cannot wait to try their make-up products too. The line is free of synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, chemical preservatives. Check out their web site!  They even have weekly specials and candles too!

Love the skin and body care @NourishUSDA

I am always testing out beauty products and I really am focused on using more natural products on my skin and trying to get my tweens to use more natural products too.  I love this new line of 100% USDA organic skincare and bodycare called Nourish Organic.  The products smell really nice, they have a variety of products and according to their web site it is clinically proven to moisturize skin. According to me it does and works great! The company is based in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and their products are completely natural and organic,as well as cruelty-free, gluten-free, and mostly vegan. I tested out the ultra-moisturizing hand wash. This is the wash you want on hand when the kids go back to school and for winter time as it’s truly moisturizing. It doesn’t dry out your hands like most hand soap does.  I also love the body wash. It is a moisturizing body wash and is great for sensitive skin. The almond vanilla is great but it comes in lemon, berry and others as well.  The fresh and dry deodorant is the first USDA-certified deodorant on the market and I have been testing out many “natural” deodorants and this one works and comes in many fragrances as well a an unscented version. Check out all their products online. Disclosure: The company sent me the products above to review. All opinions are my own.

Tweens and shampoo/body washes @babobotanicals

Both my girls love products that smell good – shampoo, body wash etc. Sometimes the products they would like to use are made with chemicals and parabens.  That is why I love Babo Botanicals shampoos and body washes. Their new Berry Primrose Smoothing Shampoo and Wash and smoothing conditioner are perfect for tweens. They smell amazing (according to my two tweens) and I love how the shampoo acts as a wash as well so in the instance you have swimmers like my two you only have to pack one bottle!

Speaking of swimmers, babo has their Swim & Sport line and the girls love the Swim & Sport Conditioner as it detangles and helps to strengthen hair.

I love the Oatmilk Calendula shampoo and body wash and the moisturizing baby lotion as it is great for sensitive skin. What I have found is many times with organic products they don’t necessarily smell that great. But all their products smell amazing and are very soothing.   All are also made in the U.S.A without any parabens or phthalates.  Check them out!
