It’s almost here: Mother’s Day! What would you like to receive? Today at Better CT we were talking Mother Day Gift Ideas, especially unique ones that mom or dad can make with the kids. Here is the link to the segment and some of the fun products we showcased!
I just love anything personalized with my kids name on it! This is the Heart Page Pendant (retails for $189) from Carved Creations. What a great company. This personalized jewelry is individually crafted in Pur Luxium (which is Carved Creations fine jewelers-grade stainless steel). They have rings, bracelets and other great gift ideas.
Here is a great idea for your kids artwork and a unique gift for mom. The Pieced Palette  makes great scarves and pillows out of your child’s artwork. Have dad sit down with the kids and have them draw a masterpiece. The pieced palette will scan the image and put it on a scarf or can make a two-sided pillow with your child’s artwork on one side and a note on the other (like “You’re the best mom!. These are also great for grandma! Choose scarf or pillow, each $50.
All moms have a ton of photos lying around or just sitting on your computer. Have dad gather the kids and go to MixBook.com to create your custom photo book. They can do photo books, cards and calendars online. I love that it looks like an actual book. They have all sorts of themes – Mother’s Day, Family Tree or even a recipe book.
If you have a crafty child choose one of these activities that you can make with them. Gifts.com is the premier gifting authority. The deluxe pottery wheel is great for adventurous ones and the ultimate nail studio is perfect for spa day for the girls. I just love the make you own cards – Gifts.com has a great kit that has all you need and neatly packaged in a carrying case.
My new favorite item is the  Diva Dangler earring organizer The Diva Dangler earring organizer is a reversible wooden frame covered in their proprietary fabric called Duramesh, a strong material with perfectly sized holes that make it a cinch to hang – and remove – earrings. It can hang on the wall of a bedroom, bathroom or even office, or the frame can be placed in the custom base which serves as a ring holder and which can hold up to 32 rings. I love how it looks like a work of art, so organize your jewelry any way you want. It’s beautiful and affordable at $29.99.

I have never had a dog before so this is my first experience all things dog related. My puppy is 7 months old and very much a part of the family. #iLoveMyK9 He loves treats and we like to share our treats with our puppy friends. Our puppy loves to shop with us too. We were on a doggy treat mission today! For this doggy treat mission we wrote out our list and headed to the store.  We wanted to say thank you to our dog groomer and give her and her pups a special gift basket of dog treats. Fetch It In Bedford is a wonderful place. It is a dog groomer, bakery and store all in one. On our trip we headed to Walmart with our list and checked out the signs. There was a good selection of food and treats available. We chose to buy Pup-Peroni and Milo’s Homestyle Kitchen treats.  We also love Milk Bone but did not get the special kind we love which is the Milk Bone Trail Mix. It must be popular as they were all sold out!  They did have a lot of Milo’s treats which was great. I don’t know which one my pup likes better.  I would shop the dog treat selection at Walmart again. Although I would love to see more offerings as some of the shelves were empty. This shopping experience was quick and easy and of course I took several additional photosalong the way. As always at Walmart check out was easy – don’t all stores have their cashiers stand out in the isles to call shoppers over to their check out? I wish they all did this! When we arrived home we assembled our doggy gift basket with the help of our puppy (tried to keep him from eating our gift!) We then headed over to our groomer to present her with the treats and she along with the dogs there loved them!  Everyone should treat their groomer and their dogs to a special surprise every once in a while after all they make our pups look and feel good! Plus I am sure their pups along with mine would love to receive a gift of Pup-Peroni, Milo’s Kitchen Homestyle Treats and Milk Bone treats as well  – what dog wouldn’t?

May is a busy month filled with parties and celebrations – first communions, Mother’s Day, Cinco de Mayo! This week on 980 WCAP-AM we talked about balancing it all this busy time of year! Listen in…..
As I have said before there are so many unique and helpful products on the market now versus when my 7 and 10 year olds were babies. I remember having about 4 different strollers and now it seems you buy one stroller that does it all. I also remember the sun in my babies eyes ALL THE TIME and worrying about sun protection especially when they were newborns. Now that the warm weather is here and we are slathering on the sunscreen, for all the moms with little bitty babies out there (or toddlers too) you may want to get this product to protect your little one. It is the Protect-a-Bub’s classic sunshade. This universal protective stroller canopy has an SPF 50 built into it.  It also fits car seats with a canopy as well so you can enjoy your adventures without worry! The company also makes a rain cover. A pretty nice idea especially since a little nap time is key during stroller time. This product was endorsed by Melanoma International Foundation!

Hubby is traveling this week + I don’t cook = Foodler to the rescue! Foodler is a new food online delivery site (hmm..I could get use to this!). This growing network of online restaurants in major cities has a wide selection of menu options to choose from.  It’s fast, easy and you can schedule a time and day for your delivery. So if you know you won’t have time to cook on say, Tuesday night – go online and Foodler presents you with a list of all restaurants that offer delivery and take-out meals to your area. The options range from Chinese, Italian, Pizza and more. So last night I went online and saw that our local pizza place delivered and ordered a salad a pizza and scheduled a time and sure enough it arrived just in time for my hungry kids! You can browse the complete menus of those restaurants in your area, click on your selections, and send your order directly to the restaurant and even schedule a time later on to have them delivered on a certain day. This is a perfect service for moms with a new little one, friends who are in need of a meal or if you are like me and worry about what’s for dinner - it’s a great solution. Simple, fast, tasty and easy – why aren’t all my meals like this?? I hope they add more restaurants to my area soon!
