Turkey Day, Black Friday! Plus @drydivas @tartecosmetics

This week on the trendymommies.com 980 WCAP-AM segment we talked turkey day and Black Friday!  Plus each week for the holiday season I am going to talk about some great finds for holidays gifts and must have items for moms during this busy holiday season.

First up is my all time favorite cosmetics line tarte cosmetics and their cute holiday kits. I love the lip surgence trio and their baby it’s bold outside lip glosses kit.  These kits are a must have for any busy mom as you can put a few in the car, a few in your make-up bag so you are never without lip gloss!  Check out their site as they have 30 gifts under $30.  Tarte cosmetics is a cruelty-free cosmetics line and their products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates or sodium lauryl sulfate.

I wash my hair every other day, but I of course take a shower every day!  For the longest time I have been using a towel to cover my hair (especially after a good blow out) and usually wind up with a soaked towel.  I just discovered the Dry Divas Designer Shower Cap! (the company is sending me one to try out so I will have a review soon). They have so many fun, bright patterns to chose from it makes covering up your hair a snap!   Many celebrities are fans and the ribbon clip makes wearing these caps a fun touch.

Look out for these products and more on my upcoming TV segments as well.

Disclosure:  The companies listed above sent me products to review. All opinions are my own.

Aftermath of Sandy: messy house; Halloween on in your town?

Hurricane Sandy is over but the affects of it still linger for some families – no power, tree damage, house messiness from kids playing!  Most of the two days off from school each of the rooms in my house was a mess.  Well, at least the kids kept occupied by building forts, baking, watching TV and movies (luckily we had power the whole time!) We also took a trip to the beach to see the waves and boy was it amazing to see the massive waves but sad that there was hardly any beach left.

Now onto Halloween.  Costumes are ready, kids are home early (3/4 day) and we are counting down the hours!  We have Halloween this evening but many towns are postponing to Saturday (like last year) and while there are pros and cons to each  – l like the idea of sleeping late and no school on Sunday – last year it just felt different.  I am glad it’s this evening.  What are your thoughts on postponing?

Happy Halloween or my new favorite saying from that crazy show the neighbors

Happy Halloween ween!    I hope all of you are safe now and have a Happy Halloween!

Get Your Home Improvement Projects Done @HarveyBP #BPBN

Have you been planning to install new windows or doors? Well, not all are created equal. I attended a great event at Harvey Building Products at their Burlington, MA showroom (what? you have not been there?)  It is a must see at 1 Wheeler Road- lots of good ideas for home improvement projects especially for doors and windows. But I did not realize they have a lot more products.  Options for decking, siding and roofing were just some of the products we saw on our tour.  Also on hand was Peter Hotton from The Boston Globe’s handyman on call to tell us some wonderful and funny home improvement stories.

All Harvey windows, doors and patio rooms (my dream project is a nice three season room!) are made locally in NH and they stand by their products. They are the only American manufacturer that designs and makes all its own window products.  Check out their showroom and tell your contractor to as well! Homeowners can visit the showroom for ideas, suggestions and lots of advice, but Harvey sells exclusively to building industry professionals. Or check out their web site at Harveybp.com

This is my dream front door!
