I am always on the look out for compact items. Especially solids that fit into a beach bag or a carry on for airlines. Sunscreen is especially hard to find in a natural solid. I am partial to zinc or titanium dioxide which are more natural. I am so glad Babo Botanicals sent me a couple of their summer items to test out. Babo Botanicalsis a company on a mission to offer pure, safe, organic solutions for babies and kids. I use all their products as they are great for adults too. I especially love the shampoo/body wash combos as you only need to pack one bottle when traveling.
We really need to protect our lips from the sun. What I don’t like is an all white zinc lip balm or ones that have color and that color gets all goopy and all over your lips making you look like a clown! Trust me many of them do. The Babo Botanicals Lip tint SPF 15 is a non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide lip tint that softens and conditions lips and stays on your lips with a nice light color. Made with the Babo Botanicals Proprietary Nutri-Soothe™ Complex which the company says is rich in anti-oxidants & vitamins. I like how the products are made in the USA. The Seka Rose is a very light pink and it glides on easily and stays put.
The Super Shield Sport Stick Sunscreen with SPF 50 is great for traveling as it’s a solid. It glides on white but rubs in clear and it provides a water resistant barrier for 80 minutes – perfect for your outdoor activities in the sun. It is fragrance free and safe for all ages. This is in my bag at all times!
Disclosure: Babo Botanicals sent me the above items to test out. As always all opinions in this blog post are my own.

Memorial Day is almost here! What are you going to pack in your bag this weekend? (hopefully it’s a beach or pool bag) SUNSCREEN! This week on the trendymommies.com report on 980 WCAP-AM we were talking Memorial Day and sunscreen. Got a favorite? Below are my favorites. Be smart and use that sunscreen and apply often. For more tips head on over to mindbodygreen.comwhere the founder of Babo Botanicals wrote a great article about being smart about sunscreen and tune in to my show!
Sunshine is finally here in New England. We have been heading out to area beaches and rating them but after all the packing and unpacking I’ve found that there really are only a few essentials you need for a day at the beach. (Boogie boards are the only essential my kids need or so they say!)
Beach Cart – Yes! – After searching last year for one of these I finally bought one – the Nantucket Beach Buggy. At first my husband was like, you have got to be kidding me, but after just two uses he was hooked and said it was the best investment I ever made. You can find them online or at specialty stores. Or check out similar ones at http://www.beachandswim.com/beachcarts.aspx
Water Bottle– Yes! – I bought another stainless steel water bottle the other day and boy was I disappointed – as it had a small opening and I was not thinking at the store when I saw the great colors that you cannot fit ice cubes in it. Plus the color was coming off but I won’t mention any names….So I am back to my original love of the Klean Kanteen! http://www.kleankanteen.com.I noticed they have new colors at LL Bean – perfect for back to school! http://www.llbean.com
Sun Screen – Yes! – The girls sometimes complain it’s cold but after two seconds the sunscreen is on and no rubbing so that is why I love the no rub spray in a jiffy sunscreens. You do run out faster so beware. With sensitive skin I have to use the Aveeno line – BABY CONTINUOUS PROTECTION® Sunblock Lotion with SPF 55 is so great and gentle. Also love the CONTINUOUS PROTECTION® ACTIVE
Sunblock Spray with SPF 70.
Beach Bags – Yes!– I really like the zip up tote bags. New this summer is the LLBean Regimental Stripe Boat and Tote® Baghttp://www.llbean.com
Lands End has the Small, medium, large and extra large Zip Top Colored Canvas Tote Bags in some new colors this season – love the Bright Pistachio/Bright Clover http://www.landsend.com
