Holiday shopping season is coming – are you supporting women through #consciousspending? @janetkraus @uncommonthreadsboutique

Last night I attended an evening out to support the Uncommon Threads Boutique. If you don’t know about this organization check them out. This boutique style organization takes an outside-in approach to boosting women’s self-esteem through the power of clothes. I am all about women supporting women and this holiday season we should think about where we spend our money. The CEO of Peach, Janet Kraus spoke about conscious spending and how important it is in choosing to support women run companies. Peach is a women’s fashion brand supporting women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, We all love our brands but do we know about the organization behind them? Does buying those yoga pants align with your values? As Kraus mentioned companies are fueled by your dollar – think about spending where women can grow their business. 80 percent of the spending will be done within the next several months leading into the holiday season. As women it’s something to think about where your dollar is being spent. As a brand I do love Peach – I love their leggings and their casual vibe. But they also have great pieces that can transition from day time to business attire to a night out. Check them out at this link through my friend Trish’s site.

Networking for a good cause with @KimMilesinHeels #shoesapalooza #uncommonthreads #womensnetworking #networkingforacause

I am all for a good networking event and one that benefits a good cause is even better. Kim Miles of Miles in Heel productions puts on great events and this one – a shoes a palooza to benefit Uncommon Threads was great. Local businesswomen gathered for a luncheon and brought shoes to donate to this organization. Uncommon Threads is a “boutique style” organization that takes an outside-in approach to boosting women’s self-esteem through the power of clothes. They provide domestic violence survivors and women in need with clothes that will inspire and increase self-confidence, and self-worth. You can help by donating clothing, shoes, and accessories or your time or donation! They also host events where you can help by purchasing fab clothing all to benefit Uncommon Threads. It was great to see everyone gather for a good cause.

A simple, new, must have product for earrings

As a consumer product expert I review a lot of products. This simple solution I just discovered is a life changer. They are called levears earring lifts. Just bought a package the other day and they are so easy to use. IF you have an issue with earrings drooping this is the must have product to try. They also don’t hurt your ears, which sometimes I have problems with earring backs. Such a great invention. Check them out at levears.com

Fall weather is here…sweater weather, fall decor and more

I think fall is here in Boston finally! We went from 80 to 40 degrees in a flash. Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week so boo hoo! You all know I love summer – beach time, warm weather, vacations! But I also love fall as well – everything from pumpkin spice, pumpkins, apple cider donuts – yum!

I started on my fall decorating. Years ago I switched to a white and gold theme and did get rid of most of the orange color. I know, I know I use too much white in my décor so I switched it up with a bit of grey. Do you know how hard it is to find grey pumpkins?? Here is a close up of some of the décor I used.

Fall is also a perfect time for travel! We hope to get to NYC, Quebec and London! Stay tuned for the next adventure.

Happy Fall!

Lazy days of summer – not! #travel #seniortrip #Aruba

Well this summer flew by so fast. Anyone else think so? Swim and Dive season, Beach days, my daughter’s senior trip and of course now running around trying to get everything in order for her move to college. How did that happen???

Earlier in the summer it was all things summer swim and dive season. Then onto travel. Summer is so packed and we usually do multiple trips in the summer. This year was the big senior trip for my daughter and her friends. If you haven’t heard the story we were booked to Punta Cana. Well, with everything going on there we just didn’t feel comfortable going so we rebooked to Aruba. SO GLAD WE DID. If you haven’t been you must go. We chose an all-inclusive and I would do this again. Aruba is known for its great food but we had kids with us so this was the best option and it was great. Food was really good and no worries about the dining bill! We did venture out with ATVs and went to the natural pool and baby beach. One interesting stop was the fish pedicure. It was different and weird but I loved it.

This was such a memorable trip. We were relaxed and felt safe in Aruba. Lots to do – with shopping and gambling lol. There was even entertainment at our hotel pool which everyone loved. We stayed at the Barcelo and would recommend it. We can’t wait to go back!

Here are my two favorite scenes from the trip – the pool photo and the beach view from the trip we took out to the middle of the ocean to the Tarzan boat. There was this place in the middle of the ocean that had rope swings, trampolines and high dives. Yes, I did go off the high dive. It was amazing but sometimes you have to remind yourself you are not 20 anymore, but I will always try new things!
