Get into the holiday spirit with #BostonBallet #BBNutcracker @bostonballet #Hosted

If you are looking for something special to do with the kids this holiday season Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker is that special experience unlike any other. I remember seeing the performance as a child with my parents. My mom would also have to make a stop at Lord and Taylor (hmm…wonder where my love for shopping comes from?) She also loved the ballet as well. The Nutcracker is a fun holiday tradition to start with your family. For those in the suburbs make a day trip adventure and stop for shopping and dinner, but don’t miss this magical performance this season!

We were so lucky to be invited to an afternoon dress rehearsal. We took photos in the grand lobby AND the performers visited with the audience and took photos during intermission. It was such a treat and a wonderful performance. The music, dancing, stage lighting and decoration was magical. This was my older daughter’s first time seeing the Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker and she really did enjoy it. For those with little kids The Nutcracker performance length is approximately 1 hour and 57 minutes includes one intermission. It really is a performance for all ages.

Here is more information about this special ballet. Boston Ballet’s Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker is a completely re-imagined production which premiered in 2012 and has since received praise from audiences and critics alike. This year’s production will feature all-new lighting design by Finnish-based Mikki Kunttu, and includes the full company of 68 dancers along with more than 200 Boston Ballet School students. The Nutcracker will run November 27–December 31, 2015 at the Boston Opera House so get your tickets and enjoy the magic of The Nutcracker! For more information click here.
Disclosure: My kids and I were given tickets to the dress rehearsal performance. All opinions are my own in this blog post.

Traditions, Turkey Day, Turkey Trot and being #Thankful

Thanksgiving is almost here, time for good fun and cheer! This year we are cooking a turkey which in years past we usually buy our turkey pies from my favorite place growing up – Raymond’s Turkey Farm. My kids love their turkey pie and fixings and it’s funny as I loved it as a child too. I just was so busy that I did not have time to get there. I do love this time of year for celebrating traditions. I am trying to make fun memories for my kids and continuing on with my goal of doing something fun and different, (and to travel more – whether it’s a day trip, weekend away or vacation) we are headed to a couple fun events this coming weekend including The Boston Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker and a visit to Great Wolf Lodge! More on those fun events later.

The girls asked me if they could do the Turkey Trot in our town this year and wanted me to do it with them.  Well, I am not a runner – AT ALL – but thought this would be a fun event to do with my kids and it’s for charity (proceeds go to our local food pantry) I have been trying to run every other day but I am only up to 1.5 miles LOL. Believe me this is the most I have ever run – it’s just not my thing- I am trying though….I hope I can make it the 3 miles! So we shall see how this Thanksgiving morning tradition will go. I will not complain though as I am lucky enough to be able to run, my kids are active, my family is here for Thanksgiving so lots to be thankful for!!

What traditions do you have?

Get your Halloween supplies fast @BJswholesale #sponsored

In the rush of weekend soccer and activities I forgot that this coming weekend is Halloween. In between soccer and dive I also had to grocery shop, needed some supplies and gifts for upcoming parties and like all moms had to figure out how to run around and get the kids their costumes and Halloween candy. I did it all in one stop at @BJWholesale club this weekend. They were nice enough to send me a gift card for the Halloween season and they had costumes, decorations and of course the best selection of bulk candy I have seen. The kids picked out the 110 bulk bag of dots and tootsie rolls. If you have lots of kids that come to your door on Halloween you have to get your candy here!  They also have very unique decorations for Halloween. They had rows of Disney costumes as well – a good selection the week before Halloween. It’s not too late to check out the selection this week at your local BJs Wholesale Club.

Disclosure: BJs Wholesale sent me a give card to use. All opinions in this blog post are my own.

Take me to @RedSox game! #CallingAllKids #RedSoxMoms #Hosted

It’s always a great day for a ball game! Even if your kids are young there is always something to do at Fenway Park! There are so many food options and places to check out even when you need a break from the game.  Yesterday we were treated to a special event – a Red Sox Kid Nation Press Conference. The kids were excited to be able to ask Brock Holt questions and then we got a tour of some of the great spots to watch the game – hello green monster! What is great about Fenway and the Red Sox games is it really is a family event and very kid friendly. Wally’s Clubhouse is the perfect spot for kids to take a break from the game and is open each home game from the third through seventh innings. Is is located in the champions club and offers activities for kids of all ages including face paining, balloon artists, caricature artists and appearances from Wally!  Plus it is cool in there so especially after yesterday’s heat it was great to take a break.

We also had an opportunity to view the rooftop garden called Fenway Farms. The Red Sox  have created a rooftop garden behind the Gate that will grow vegetables and herbs throughout the baseball season.  Presented by Stop & Shop (our favorite grocery store!)  Dole, Sage Fruit, and Fenway Park concessionaire Aramark, the items grown will be used in food products prepared at the ballpark, including the restaurant in the EMC Club.  As part of yesterday’s festivities we got to sample some Fenway cuisine with a small Fenway Food Festival and hear more about the yummy offerings (there is much more to eat than a fenway frank). The kids loved the grilled cheese and chicken fingers and I loved the pad thai inspired noodles.  If you want to head to a game and learn more about what’s in store for kids at Fenway click  here.

Disclosure:  The Red Sox treated us to an afternoon of fun and food and the game as part of a partnership as a Red Sox Mom. All opinions in this blog post are my own.

@DaveandBusters opening in Woburn #daveandbusterswoburn

Let the fun begin – Dave & Busters is opening in Woburn next Tuesday, May 22nd at 11 am! This  very fun entertainment destination has food, drinks, over 170 games and a very large sports bar with massive TVs.

I was invited to check out the new location this week and saw all the games (my favorite was the ski ball area) and got a taste of the large selection of food they have on the menu. Chef crafted menu items include the best cobb salad I have tasted!  They also offer a variety of burgers and fun pretzel dogs for the kids. The cocktails looked great as well but since this was a luncheon I did not indulge but plan to go back to try the strawberry watermelon magarita or maybe the adult snow cone.

Wednesdays are half price games and they have quite a selection of rooms for corporate meetings, birthday parties or team building activities. Dave & Busters Woburn is open seven days a week and might I suggest you try out the eat and play combo (deals start at $16.99)

Disclosure:  I was invited to attend a luncheon and tour of Dave & Busters and received a gift bag with a gift card. All opinions are my own.

Enter Dave & Busters Woburn for the best arcade games.

A new burger in town @smashburger @UniversityStn

You know I love my burgers and now I was introduced to a new burger joint – although this one’s menu is very unique and really has something for everyone (especially vegetarians)

Smashburger opened its second New England location at 203 University Ave, University Station, Westwood on Wednesday April 1st and I was invited along with my blogger buddies for some burger tasting!

Yes, they have very good burgers with a bit of unique flavors but they also had THE BEST chicken sandwich I have had in a very long time and an avocado ranch black bean burger that was very good and I don’t even like black bean burgers!

The chicken sandwich was a masterpiece with cucumbers, spinach, goat cheese, tomato, onion and balsamic vinaigrette on a multi-grain bun. We also got to try the classic smash burger, BBQ bacon and cheddar burger, the truffle mushroom swiss burger and the buffalo and blue cheese crispy chicken sandwich. At Smashburger, the secret is in the smash. It starts with 100-percent—fresh, never frozen, All-natural Certified Angus Beef and is smashed on a 400 degree flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. To further the “better burger” experience, the burgers are served on toasted artisan buns.

They also have tossed salads and the most amazing rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries.  AND….they have some very unique sides including the Haystack Onions, and Veggie Frites (flash-fried and seasoned carrot sticks and green beans) – very yummy.  You have to try the fried pickles!  We also got to try the Haagen-Dazs shakes – um…hello salted caramel: you are my favorite. The chocolate shake and oreo ones were not bad either!

The 2400 square-foot Smashburger is very nice in side and much more upscale than an normal burger joint. Visit them and soon!

Disclosure: I was invited for a Smashburger tasting before it opened to the public and received a fun gift bag with goodies. All opinion are my own in this blog post.
