Disney Vacation! Top 5 Tips #DisneySide @WaltDisneyWorld @TheDisneySide

Well, we are back from our Disney vacation and we miss it already. So much has changed since the last time we were there 5 years ago. I will NOT wait that long to visit again. Everyone has their tips and strategies for navigating through the parks so here are my top 5 tips/favs from The Walt Disney World Parks.

1.  It makes sense for us to stay at a Disney resort as you can take advantage of the magic hours and those magic bands are great as that is really all you need to carry with you. Who wants to lug around a bag with stuff all day especially if you have older kids.

2.  Early in, rest afternoon, late night,  back at it – Here is our strategy as our kids are a bit older (10 and 13) – Get to the park early, get your favorite rides in first thing and schedule fast passes for either late morning or later in the evening. My kids like to go on multiple times but with long lines that is not possible. We took a break each day at around 2 and we enjoyed the rides early in the morning with no lines, some days had the fast pass mid-morning and when we got back in the evening we enjoyed the sites and did not stress about the long lines. (at Magic Kingdom there were no lines at 11:00 pm lol)

3. Eat where you like and it doesn’t have to be a big sit down meal each day – we did not do the meal plan. We had one lunch reservation (so we could have a Fantasmic show pass) and of course the most coveted meal -a dinner reservation at Be Our Guest). The other meals we just went with what we liked – dinner at Epcot in Italy and Germany. We also like Downtown Disney as our favorite restaurant is Wolfgang Puck Express. It’s casual, the food is great and you do not need a reservation.

4. Treats! Get the Dole Whip treat at Aloha Isle in  Adventureland which is the popular frozen treat blended in pineapple, orange, vanilla or swirled flavors. I kept seeing that frozen banana on a stick everywhere! It was so good!  The  kids loved the Coke slushie in Animal Kingdom as they never drink it so that was a special treat.   Another favorite in Downtown Disney is Ghiradelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop. LOVE the one scoop sundaes.

5. Disney is not a relaxing vacation  -it is very fun but it’s non-stop and tiring. We were lucky as it was 85 and sunny each day so relaxing by the pool each afternoon was a real treat. That is one recommendation – to take a break and relax each day. There can be so much shuttling back and forth on those buses and waiting in line and running to the ride you want. TRY to relax each day if you can. We also spent our last day by the pool and got a ride to the airport at 3:30 (yes my kids were in the pool at 3:05….didn’t want to leave the 85 temps for 25 degrees back home!) so at least we got to have a bit of a wind down period.  As I kept saying to my family, “you can rest when we get home!”

As part of the “Calling All Kids” program the team is making Fenway Park an even more kid-friendly atmosphere. Here are a few of the awesome additions.

• Gate K & Kid Nation Concourse – This special new entrance at Fenway is dedicated to children and families and will be located adjacent to Gate B near the corner of Van Ness and Ipswich Streets. The gate will lead fans into the new Kid Nation Concourse featuring new attractions for young fans, including: A seven-foot giant Wally bobblehead, Interactive video wall, Life-size images & footprints Red Sox players, Balloon artist, stilt walker, and face painter will keep kids entertained!

• Wally’s Clubhouse – Red Sox Kid Nation Clubhouse is being transformed into the new “Wally’s Clubhouse,” open from the 3rd to the 7th inning season-long, providing families with little ones a place to play and walk around, and a welcoming venue for children to meet Wally the Green Monster.

• Red Sox Kids Crew – A new group of Fenway Park staff, Red Sox Kids Crew, will greet kids as they enter Gate K, lead children in games, and provide families with assistance and information about kid-friendly Fenway Park activities.

My favorite line of make-up and skin care just launched a new venture with Target.

Pacifica’s partnership with Target is the part of the Made to Matter Program.  Pacifica is of the 31 brands selected for Made to Matter 2015 – Handpicked by Target, the collection features leading natural, organic and sustainable brands that use simple, recognizable ingredients designed to be better for everyone and accessible to anyone.

As part of the Made to Matter Program Pacifica offers the Power of Love Collection, exclusively to Target, which is set to launch April 1st. The new products include the Power of Love lipstick. For every lipstick purchased Pacifica will give one lipstick to a women in need. I love this new creamy lipstick as it’s hydrating and the colors are fun and bright. I do love all Pacifica products, especially the wipes. Real easy to use for moms on the go and they all smell really great. AND…now Pacifica has hand cream AND in my favorite scent – Island Vanilla! It’s my favorite scent  in an easy to tote small tube. The stunning brows is a quick way to brighten up your face by making sure your eyebrows look done up. The web site calls the bb cream, “A true multitasking miracle that hydrates, primes, illuminates, and perfects leaving a sheer bare skin finish.” I call it the easiest make-up to apply. Be sure to add the sea foam complete face wash to your list of must haves. It smells like coconuts and really takes off your make-up in a flash.

Well, It’s Springtime inside at least thanks to @theyankeecandle

It’s snowing…again…cannot wait until Springtime! I got a sense of spring as Yankee Candle sent me a few of their new 2015 fragrances! So at least I can add a bit of spring in the air inside my home.

In case you didn’t know, The Yankee Candle Company, Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer of premium scented candles, and they have retail stores just about everywhere (more than 500 retail stores) you can also go online.

There are five new fragrances from the classic jar collection including the following:

Red Raspberry – Tangy sweet and full of nature’s goodness … there is nothing quite as delicious as ripe, rosy red raspberries.

Picnic in the Park – Warm and sunny … like an afternoon daydream stretched out on a soft blanket under a shade tree.

Blue Summer Sky – Under a bright blue sky … breathe the clean, earthy, airy scent of a heavenly summer day.

Peach Cobbler – Peaches, from the farmer’s market, perfectly baked with cinnamon and honey sugar.

Wild Sea Grass – Kissed by the ocean breeze, the green scent of dewy sea grass atop the sand dunes.

Also new are five new fragrances from the Pure Radiance collection including:

Pearlescent – Sophisticated pleasure … there’s a shimmery glow of elegance in this lovely, powdery floral bouquet.

Whisper – Heavenly sweet and luxurious, this perfume captivates the senses with its quietly enticing beauty.

The Yankee Candle Company also launched the Girl Scout Cookies Candle Collection with 4 scents including Thin Mints, Trefoils, Chocolate Peanut Butter and our favorite Coconut Caramel Stripes.  Buy one and have the wonderful reminder of your favorite girl scout cookie!

Snow got to you yet? Try a massage @MassageEnvy

We tried it and loved it! I am sure we are all done with snow and the aches and pains that come along with it. Maybe you forgot that Valentine’s Day is coming up so why not treat yourself to a massage or treat your hubby to one!

Massage Envy Spa has some great services and they also are a membership spa. What is really nice is you can join and then decide each month if you want a massage or facial. I had not had a massage in years and while it took time to relax the benefits afterwards were great. I was calm and ready for bed! You can customize your massage with what you need – a deep tissue, sports massage, foot massage or prenatal. They even have a sugar foot scrub therapy as an add on. I opted for a regular massage with a focus on cranial sacral therapy as I do get headaches a lot.  For Valentine’s Day why not try it? They also have a room where you can get side by side massages!  They do offer a three month special at $179.97 if you want to try it out. The monthly membership dues are $59.99 and if another family member joins they can add on for $49.99. This is the perfect gift for this long winter.  And for all you wondering if your guy will like it – he will – especially if he has been shoveling for the last few weeks!
